Glitch Creations

Home > STUDENT PROJECTS > Glitch Creations

Glitch Art transforms technical errors and malfunctions into a form of creative expression, challenging social norms by embracing the unpredictable nature of both performance and digital technology.

Inspired by Legacy Russell’s concept of “Glitch Feminism” (2020), students artistically engaged with the following questions:

  • What is the subversive efficacy of errors?
  • How can the possibilities of digital technology be used as a tool to ‘glitch’ hegemonic orders such as gender binaries?
  • How can the biassed logics of digital machines be ‘glitched’ by means of artistic creation?
Performed and devised by:

Bautista Montes Kettly,  Jeanne Pequeux, Mastula Nakabugo and Lotti Lutter, Bongiwe Dhlomo, Nomfundo Masilela, Zilungile Mbombo, Mthunzi Dhlamini, Mark Sharag and Lily Mikita.
