A workshop by the artist duo plan b, Sophia New and Daniel Belasco Rogers, who have a unique and ongoing practice of recording everywhere they go, every day, with a GPS for two decades.
About the workshop
Looking at plan b’s work of building a lifelong collection of GPS traces, as well as other artists using GPS, students of this workshop will examine a diverse range of urban practices, from the revolutionary literary movement that gave rise to psychogeography, to strategies of following from Vito Acconci and Sophie Calle, to multimedia and audio walks by Janet Cardiff or Christina Kubisch.
We aim to contextualise these practices, suggest strategies to explore the current state of this artistic field and develop ideas together for future formats. We encourage ways of connecting through digital media that acknowledges the difference in time and space, but also offers modes of sharing that suggest companionship.
