A workshop with Qondiswa James, on creating multi-faceted digital theatre on Zoom, including sound, photo and videography, mapping, text and the body.

About the workshop

Throughout this workshop series, participants embark on a journey to explore their physical and emotional connections to their environments.

They begin by sharing their locations and visually mapping their surroundings, considering concepts like distance, closeness, rotation, distortion, and light.

Participants then use their smartphones to capture the essence and mood of their spaces, accompanied by a meaningful song that evokes their sense of place.

They engage in free-writing and creative self-framing exercises.

In subsequent sessions, participants collaborate in groups to create ensemble works, experimenting with split screens and screen share technology.

The series culminates in a showcase where participants present their creations.
